MAYA SALAFIA'S POP SINGLE "EVERLASTING" REKINDLES THE LOVE THAT GOT AWAY

Maya Salafia’s new indie pop single, “Everlasting”, released on June 10, 2022, arrives just in time to embrace and rekindle not just summer love, but all love. You see the love swirling around you as the song’s softhearted lyrics cross over into your own personal love stories, and gracefully convey the complexities of love.

Do you watch the moon on the car ride home?

I’m watching it too, but you don’t know

Sometimes I’ll whisper to the sky

I’ll send a note and I’ll pray

That we’ll intertwine someday

You’d read me the chapters of your story.

I promise I’ll sit quietly and look into your eyes

Everlasting

Oh that’s it

Everlasting

Oh that’s it

It’s like a love letter that I hope will reach everyone in a different, but equally

special way. ~Maya Salafia, singer-songwriter

The song is about yearning for reconnection of a prior love story. With depth and wisdom, the music and lyrics penetrate your soul and personal and eternal love connections.

Through an incredibly emotive storyline and poetic lyricism, Maya Salafia has proven that the revitalization of the pop-country genre just might be on the horizon with her new track “Everlasting.” The song starts off with beautiful acoustic guitar-work and Maya’s soft, melodic vocals which might bear a pleasant resemblance to country-era Taylor Swift. Other influencers detected include Phoebe Bridgers and Tate McRae.

The energy of the song builds up quickly as it transitions into all engaging pop-country choruses, with a full band becoming a driving force for the song. This is where Maya begins to show that she is willing to push the envelope sonically and add more of a rock influence, with a combination of acoustic and electric guitars and sunny synths accompanying her smooth, soaring vocals.

While there are numerous songs about relationships out there in the sea of music, “Everlasting” has a charm to it that sets it apart from the pack and shows that it can also stand head and shoulders above it through Maya’s ability to pull the listener into the song with her lyrics. The bridge of “Everlasting” is a clear example of this with its main line “your bad side, your good side, your demons in your night sky”, painting a clear image for the listener, and a relatable one at that because it is about accepting someone for who they are. The emotion and quality behind the arrangement of “Everlasting” must also be emphasized, as Maya hits the nail on the head in every section dynamically and melodically, creating a track which motions repeat listening.

The new single production team included Brad Young of BKY Studios, vocal producer and lead engineer, Owen Korzec, producer and sole instrumental musician on the song, Performers on the Go, Production Manager and Marketing/PR Manager.

In all of Maya’s original songs, whether it’s a ballad or an upbeat tune that you can dance to, she likes to use imagery in her lyrics to tell a story and share her inner world and experiences with her listeners. She employs the practice of “show, don’t tell” with her lyrics, so the songs have a lasting impact on listeners and brings them deeper into the stories.

Maya’s love for song writing shines through in her performances and honest lyrics. You visualize the story behind the lyrics, and want to hear more, forgetting her young age.

I want people to hear, feel and experience the real, authentic me, and I hope that comes through in my music. I love to use imagery to tell a story in my songs, and to share my true self and a piece of my heart and mind with my audience. Also, even though I am only sixteen, which some might consider young, I strive to be taken seriously as a prolific songwriter and performer. ~Maya Salafia, singer-songwriter
